PHILOSOPHY
Maggie Hernández is an abstract artist with a passion for strong color and movement. She is an intuitive painter whose images are highly influenced by her immediate surroundings. The intention in her work is to visually capture a moment in time. These moments often reflect the power of untamed emotion and color; a break from socially imposed neutrality. “My paintings offer an opportunity to connect with the part of us that wants to exclaim, rejoice, celebrate, and fight with reckless abandon and in a manner that may be received without judgment. It is about the importance of honest, human communication; a place for us to learn to receive without attachment, and to relate without fear of defensive reactions.”
STYLE
Abstract Expressionist
TECHNIQUE
Work in acrylic on canvas and gouache on paper 12” to 48”. Emphasis on color, movement, repetition of form, and the visual representation of human emotions. Organic shapes combined with a vibrant color palette, strong contrasts, and the repetition of lines resembling crosses, biological organisms, marine plant-life, caverns, people, and text suggest a “hidden code”.
